Our story
Built so standards bodies never have to choose
Standards bodies fund the work that keeps whole industries safe. We built NormScan so a national institute never has to choose between protecting its catalogue and getting on with its mission.
Why we exist
A standard is sold once. Then it's copied forever. One purchased PDF gets renamed, re-hosted, mirrored and translated across thousands of sites no one would think to check. Manual search catches a sliver. By the time an in-house team finds one copy, ten more are already live — each a licence that will never be sold, and an outdated document circulating under the body's name.
The organizations that write these standards are not equipped to chase them across the open web, and they shouldn't have to be. That's the gap NormScan was built to close.
What we do
We do the finding, the proving, and the removing — discreetly, at a scale no in-house team can reach. Every case is opened the moment a copy appears, pursued through every level of escalation, and kept as an immovable record from detection to removal. It's a fully managed service: nothing to install, no dashboard to staff.
Why a specialist
Generic brand-protection tools were built to fingerprint logos and match filenames. Standards don't leak that way. They leak as renamed, translated, scanned and re-typeset PDFs that slip straight past tools looking for a brand mark. NormScan reads the document itself, in any language, which is why it surfaces copies that generic crawlers miss. We do one thing — protect the world's standards — and we do it deeper than a general-purpose platform can.
Where we are
NormScan is in pilot with a national standards body, and the platform was built multi-tenant from day one — ready for national institutes and international standards bodies alike, without migration. We're early, deliberately focused, and growing with the bodies we serve.
How we work
- Discreet. We work quietly on your behalf. You don't chase hosts or file notices; we do.
- Evidence-led. Every claim we make is backed by a matched passage, a source, and a timestamped record.
- Relentless. A case stays open through every level of escalation until the copy is gone and unfindable.
The Founder's Desk
We built NormScan because protecting a catalogue shouldn't mean pulling specialists off the work that matters. If your standards are circulating where they shouldn't be, we'd like to show you the scale of it — and then do something about it.
